Project Objectives:

The public awareness campaign of Bantay Matanda aims to increase the awareness of family members on the issues and difficulties facing the elderly and elderly care.

Specifically, the campaign aims to:

1. Organize the Bantay Matanda Center to serve as the office of Bantay Matanda and as an information center, providing referrals and links to related organizations catering to the elderly;

2. Conduct workshops to educate family caregivers, arrive at concrete action to improve the conditions of the elderly at home, in the community and society, and promote wellness among family caregivers;

3. Do an outreach program to different organizations to educate more people on elderly care.

Project Description:

The campaign has three major components:

A. Bantay Matanda Center: the office of Bantay Matanda will act as an information center, providing referrals and links to related organizations catering to the elderly;

B. Lay Forum on Elderly Care: Bantay Matanda has organized lectures on the needs and concerns of the elderly and so with the family caregivers to provide senior citizens, their caregivers and the people around them, with:

Credible and well-researched medical information on various health conditions and concerns of the elderly, presented in layman’s language through the assistance and guidance of licensed medical professionals (off cam and on cam);

Motivational and inspirational lifestyles that promote the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of the elderly and their caregivers;

Educational data relevant to the legal, professional and social aspects of being a senior citizen;

A forum for exchanging opinions on the most modern trends on care giving for the elderly.

C. Medical Mission: Bantay Matanda has given talks of elderly care particularly on memory loss in different areas outside of Metro Manila and did screening tests.
